Titanium dioxide
€1,00 – €4,00Ask a Question
Titanium dioxide – one of the most inert substances in cosmetics, which has a smaller effect on the biological processes of our body than water. Only impurities and ultra-small particles of titanium dioxide, which have the property of an oxidation catalyst, can have a harmful effect. Therefore, only extremely pure and finely dispersed titanium dioxide is used for the production of cosmetics.
Titanium dioxide can be used in the coloring of cosmetic products as a white pigment to reduce transparency or to get rid of the tint of the product and get a nice even color. When titanium dioxide is used together with other dyes, their color saturation decreases.
Titanium dioxide can be used as a UV filter when used alone or in combination with other UV filters (eg zinc oxide). In mixtures, the range of protection against UV rays is wider and the effectiveness of the protective effect is better.
This pigment is ideal for use in high-end cosmetic formulations including foundation, eye shadow, face powder and lipstick.
Ingredients: CI 77891.
Dosage:
Recommended concentration – 2-25%
1% – SPF 1.5-2
5% – SPF 10
10% SPF 15-20
The SPF of the product increases by 2 units for every 1% increase in titanium dioxide concentration.
Recommendation:
To obtain a uniform consistency and get rid of lumps, titanium dioxide is added to the fatty phase of the mixture or mixed with glycerin. Since the effectiveness of the product’s sun protection depends on how evenly the titanium dioxide is distributed, very intensive mixing is recommended.
